Green Bay is a welcoming destination for visitors of all abilities. Here’s your guide to some of the most popular and well-loved wheelchair-friendly attractions around Green Bay!

Green Bay Botanical Garden

Fall Botanical Garden

The Green Bay Botanical Garden is not only a beautiful place to spend the morning or afternoon, it’s also very thoughtfully designed with accessibility in mind. The wide, paved paths are ideal for wheelchairs and mobility devices, and most areas of the garden are easily navigable for visitors of all abilities. In addition, there are accessible parking spots, barrier-free restrooms, and complimentary wheelchairs available at the Fischer Visitor Center (first-come, first-served). It’s a peaceful, sensory-friendly spot to enjoy the outdoors during every season!

Lambeau Field & Packers Hall of Fame

Kids exploring hall of fame

Lambeau Field is an iconic destination, especially for die-hard Packers fans. Lambeau Field is fully equipped for accessibility. Wheelchair seating is available in all areas of the stadium, and accessible elevators, ramps, and restrooms are located throughout. The Packers Hall of Fame is also wheelchair accessible, and guided tours of Lambeau Field can accommodate guests with mobility needs. When booking your visit, just let them know your needs in advance so they can make sure everything’s set up for a smooth experience!

Accessible Nature Parks Around Green Bay

Pamperin Park

Looking to spend some quality time in nature? Several of our local parks and trails offer paved or packed gravel paths that are suitable for wheelchairs and other mobility aids. Some of our top recommendations would be Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary (paved trails, boardwalks, and accessible restrooms), Pamperin Park (a popular spot with smooth trails, restrooms, and picnic shelters), and Baird Creek (some trails have accessible sections and nature-based activities).

Ashwaubomay Lake

Want to cool off in the water? Ashwaubomay Lake has made a big move toward inclusivity with the addition of a free amphibious wheelchair, which allows visitors with mobility limitations to safely and comfortably enjoy the manmade lake. This special chair is designed to roll over sand and float in the water. There are also accessible restrooms and shaded seating nearby.

The National Railroad Museum

National Railroad Museum

If you love history (or just think trains are cool) the National Railroad Museum is worth a visit. The museum is wheelchair accessible with paved paths, elevators, and ramps that make it easy to explore the indoor and outdoor exhibits. The train ride is also wheelchair accessible. Simply let a staff member in the Museum Store know if you will require the wheelchair lift during your visit. It is important to note that some trains within the Lenfestey Center and McCormick Pavilion have ramps or stairs that allow individuals with a range of mobilities to look within the cars. The insides of the train cars themselves may be difficult for some individuals, as many were designed before the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was ratified. To accommodate this, almost all of the educational programming is placed outside the train cars.

Bay Beach Amusement Park

Family on the Farris Wheel at Bay Beach

Bay Beach Amusement Park is one of Green Bay’s most iconic family destinations. And now it’s about to get even more inclusive! A new wheelchair-accessible train ride is in the works and expected to open soon. The updated train will include flat, open cars that allow wheelchair users to roll in with no need to transfer. Bay Beach also features wide, paved paths and accessible restrooms, and many of the attractions are easy to navigate or view from accessible seating areas. Stay tuned for updates as the new train ride gets ready to open!
